The Cleverest & Smartest Online Resume You’ve Ever Seen

Fake Amazon Page Is Best Online Resume Ever

Titled “An Amaz-ing Resume” e don’t actually know if Philippe Dubost is any good at his job. But boy, can he throw together a resume.

Dubost, a web product manager currently based in Paris, is looking to travel for his next position. So he decided to make his CV stand out anywhere in the world — by mimicking an Amazon product page.

The result, “Philippe’s Amaz’ing Resume,” is a pitch-perfect pastiche. Suggesting that you add the applicant to your shopping cart to see his price is such a clever way of asking to be hired, we’re amazed no one thought of it before. Especially when followed by the urgent reminder: “only 1 left in stock. Order soon!”

You can see the full resume here. But in case Dubost’s site has been overwhelmed by traffic — he’s already had to change his web hosting service once, according to his Twitter feed — here’s another screenshot:

Product Details

Dubost has taken pains to replicate every last aspect of an Amazon page — even inserting an ad. We’ve seen resumes that look like Facebook pages and Twitter feeds before, but none have this much attention to detail.

And given the fact that hiring is a transaction, making it look like the world’s largest store makes a ton of sense.

Would you hire an applicant based on a resume like this? Let us know in the comments, and check out our galleries of other unusual CV designs below.

Amaz-ing, do you get it? 😉

Sparrow updated with iPhone 5 & Passbook Support

After Apple rejected Sparrow’s iPhone 5 update earlier in the month, critics cried foul and commentators happily pointed out Apple was attempting to derail the popular email client for iOS devices and Macs. There was little hope left for new features after Google acquired Sparrow in June. Plus, the search giant acknowledged as much when it said the Sparrow team would move to Google’s Mountain View offices to work on new Gmail features. It’s a welcome sign, then, that a new version of Sparrow just surfaced on the App Store. Though short of features, it does bring out two major nice-to-haves: support for the iPhone 5′s taller display and Passbook integration

Support for Passbook, a new stock app in iOS 6, allows Sparrow to send .pkpass files to the Passbook app. These small files are embedded in confirmation email messages when buying tickets, boarding passes, loyalty cards and other items Passbook understands.

Apart from the iPhone 5 and Passbook support, changelog makes no mention of other tweaks.

If you don’t have it, Sparrow will run you £1.99 (three bucks) on the App Store.

Requirements: Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iOS 5.0 or later. This app is optimized for iPhone 5.

DailyBooth to close down

With the coming of Instagram, it seems like no other photo sharing service has a chance any more. Which seems to hold true with the recent announcement by DailyBooththat it will be closing up shop on November 14th, allowing users to download their photos until December 31st.

After being part of the 2009 Y Combinator class, DailyBooth went on to raise $7 million, creating a way for users to share photos of themselves. Recently, in July, DailyBooth was snapped up by Airbnb.

Dailybooth users recently received a farewell notice from the service, announcing its shutdown.

The email, as transcribed by Internaut, explained that, “Keeping the website running is no longer feasible.

The shutdown process was also outlined in the email, that stated:

On Wednesday, November 14th, the website will no longer allow you to add new content.

Shortly thereafter, the website will be changed allowing you to only be able to download your photos.

You’ll be able to download your photos until December 31st, 2012.

After this date all content will be permanently deleted.

Here’s an excerpt from the email sent out to all users:

Dear *|USERNAME|*,

A picture a day, every day. DailyBooth was launched based on that simple idea. We never could have imagined what it would become more than three years later.

The community each one of you helped create is truly one of a kind. There have been many unforgettable memories created amongst us and none of this would have been possible without you. For that, we’re truly grateful for what you’ve helped DailyBooth become.

Regrettably, this email comes with unfortunate news. DailyBooth is shutting down. Keeping the website running is no longer feasible.

On Wednesday, November 14th, the website will no longer allow you to add new content. Shortly thereafter, the website will be changed allowing you to only be able to download your photos. You’ll be able to download your photos until December 31st, 2012. After this date all content will be permanently deleted.

We can’t thank you enough for everything.

Instagram web profiles begin to roll out

Instagram is to start rolling out a web version of its photo-sharing service, for those who want to share pictures they’ve taken beyond their mobile phone.

In a move that will surprise many that it didn’t already exist, Instagram, now owned by Facebook, will be rolling out Instagram profiles on the web.

Your web profile features a selection of your recently shared photographs just above your profile photo and bio, giving others a snapshot of the photos you share on Instagram,” says the company, explaining the new feature.

In addition, you can follow users, comment & like photos and edit your profile easily and directly from the web. It’s a beautiful new way to share your Instagram photos!

Users can check out other people’s profiles by adding a username after instagram.com – here’s mine.

The company warns that not all users will get the new feature straight away.

If you don’t see your profile yet, be assured that you’ll see it in the next few days. We’re rolling out profiles to everyone on Instagram over the course of this week.

Users will be able to share their own profile with anyone they want to see their Instagram photos, while anyone will be able to comment and like photos you’ve shot.

Users worried that the sudden move will mean all their secrets will be shared by everyone shouldn’t be.

If your photos are set to public, anyone will be able to see your profile by visiting instagram.com/username on the web,” says instagram. “You do not have to be an Instagram user to view a public user’s profile on the web…

If your photos are set to private, your photos will be visible only to logged-in Instagram users you’ve allowed to follow you.

Apple iOS 6 (Beta 4) Kills Built-In YouTube App

Apple on Monday released iOS 6 beta 4 to developers, and one of the most notable changes is the removal of the built-in YouTube app.

According to users in the MacRumors forum, the YouTube app is not included in the list of apps on the iOS home screen, where it has resided since the iPhone launch in 2007. Apple said the license with Google to include the YouTube app on the home screen has expired and Google is now working on a standalone app for the Apple App Store.

The updated iOS app will not be available until the fall, when Apple rolls out iOS 6 (presumably with its next-gen iPhone). But when it arrives, the Maps app will replace the Google Maps app that currently comes pre-installed on all iOS devices.

The good news is i think Google (YouTube) will be able to pull this one off, if they add a YouTube app to the App Store rather than built in as it will be updated more often. I myself hardly use the YouTube app due to lack of features and design is a little out-dated.

According to iLounge, meanwhile, iOS 6 beta 4 also includes Bluetooth sharing. Last month, there were reports that users will not be required to enter a password when downloading free apps in iOS 6.
